Position Overview:

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Operation Manager provides both tactical and strategic leadership for the plant manufacturing across multiple shifts.  This individual will reinforce the use of Lean tools, including 6S, as the method to deliver transparent measurable improvements and build a World Class culture and expertise within the plant.    

The incumbent will be responsible for accomplishing the production programs in time, within the product specifications and in cost, following the designed manufacturing processes.

With experience in Lean Manufacturing, the incumbent will support the activities related to defining value stream mapping for the manufacturing processes, defining capacities and identifying bottle necks in the process.

Incumbent will be working and supporting engineering activities in the plant, related to the use and allocation of work force, time studies, lay out modifications and plant distribution.

Specific job duties:

  • Track and champion operations Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI’s).
  • Instill and drive Employee Engagement and company's Mission, Vision and Values through operations
  • Oversee planning, scheduling, directing, and coordinating the manufacturing operations for a Production, Fabrication, Inventory, and Shipping department in two shifts.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize daily, weekly, and monthly objectives based on business need, product introduction, equipment efficiency and materials.
  • Ensures labor & OH cost, equipment efficiency and material are optimized.
  • Champion, lead and execute cost reduction/continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of Job Hazard Analysis, Near Miss Hazard and Behavioral Safety Observations reports accurately and timely.
  • Champion Safety and partner with EHS at plant and corporate level to develop implement and maintain safety objectives and programs.
  • Manage and supervise up to 7 direct reports and indirectly 70 hourly employees.
  • Ensure customer demands (including material specs, on time delivery) are achieved on at the highest level of quality and minimum cost.
  • Work closely with Sales and Customer Service to proactively address any specification or on-time and full delivery issues

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years minimum of manufacturing or industrial experience.
  • 2 years minimum management experience
  • Created and managed operations Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI’s
  • Lean manufacturing and cost productivity improvement experience
  • Experienced developing and leading individuals and teams.
  • Ability to analyze, identify, resolve root cause of safety and manufacturing shortfalls
  • Deliver oral and written communication to all levels of employees
  • People oriented and  with demonstrated experience working with diverse workforce
  • Strategic mindset; ability to work in a rapidly changing and growing environment

Highly preferred

  • Chemistry, Mathematics or Engineering degree (Mechanical, Industrial, and Chemistry) Preferred.
  • Experience working with SAP 
  • Six Sigma green or black belt
  • Experience and knowledge of developing capital budgets
  • Comprehensive understanding of P&L and financial reporting
